The Realities
  1. Nearly 7.5 million pregnancies yearly in Nigeria and at least 4 million pregnancies in northern Nigeria with Nigeria’s maternal mortality of about 43,000 yearly
  2. The prevalence of hypertension is estimated to be averagely 25% among adults (>18 years) which is 12,500,000 hypertensive patients in Northern Nigeria and cardiovascular diseases including stroke account for 31% of all deaths
  3. About 2 million people are living with diabetes in northern Nigeria which contributes to heart diseases, kidney diseases, eye diseases and stroke
  4. HIV is still prevalent in Nigeria with a prevalence of 1.4 among adults in Nigeria (1,900,000 people living with HIV) and about 45,000 patients die of HIV yearly in Nigeria
